Psychotherapy and Psychoeducation for Children and Teens
.

Pre-school to Middle School
Its happened again. The school won't stop calling. You and your partner are fighting about it.  Maybe your child's behavior is so trying that you are now surprised by your own reactions to your child's upsetting behavior. Perhaps something terrible happened to your child and you feel helpless to respond to it.  Does this feel all too true?

Life has its ups and downs, but when your kids are more down than up, a therapist can help .  Through stories, art and play, I can help your child communicate their fears, worries and questions and bring resolution to what they're experiencing or how they're behaving. Children experience stress too, so mind-body interventions like meditative breathing, stretches and creative visualizations are also used. And parents, sometimes it may not feel like it, but you are the experts about your child's life--you are included into the treatment as well.

Teens
Fear, anger, sadness and sullenness- you've seen it before in your child but now it seems your teen is "stuck" and you're worried it may be more than just a phase. Adolescence is a trying time for teens and their parents alike and I can work with your son or daughter to resolve their pain and confusion.  I offer a non-judgemental ear and confidentiality, while actively including parents in the treatment-- adolescents need some independence and they need the security a parent's love and guidance brings.

Some of the reasons you might bring your children to therapy:
Adjustment to major life events
Self Esteem Issues
Tantrums
Peer pressure
Nightmares
Disruptive behavior at home or at school.
Depression
Anxiety
Bereavement
Trauma and/or Child Abuse

"Becoming responsible adults is no longer a matter of whether children hang up there pajamas                                        or put dirty towels in the hamper, but whether they care about themselves and others." --Eda Leshan
